NEW DELHI, May 6 – The bid to bifurcate the profit-making Bongaigaon section from Rangiya Division to Alipurduar Division has snowballed into a major controversy, with the MPs belonging to the North-east, today petitioning the Railway Minister, Lalu Prasad, opposing the move. Agitated MPs under the banner of the North East MPs Forum met the Railway Minister and submitted a letter, urging him to stop the move. The move may jeopardise the health of the existing Division within the Region, they argued.
The delegation included PCC president and Rajya Sabha MP, Bhubaneswar Kalita, former Union Minister, Biren Baishya, Kirip Chaliha, Dr Arun Kumar Sarma, Biswajit Daimary, Silvius Condpan. Interestingly, president of Indian Olympic Association, Suresh Kalmadi was present, when the MPs submitted the memorandum at the Parliament House.
As the then Railway Minister, Kalmadi had laid the foundation stone of the Rangiya Division in 1995. Kalita, describing the move as sinister ploy to ruin the Rangiya Division, said that because of Bongaigaon section, Rangiya Division has been earning a profit of Rs 57 crore on an average. This perhaps is the only profit-making Division of the NF Railway. On the other hand, Alipurduar Division is in the red.
The move, said Daimary, is to bifurcate Saprakata Station in Bongaigaon district out of Rangiya Division and join it with Alipurduar Division.
I think this is a good move to bifercate RNY Division.As every division should have minimum earning to run respective division.As far as Alipurduar is concern they have no earnings point. Above all RNY Division has lots of earning point.A good nos. coal loading point,bamboo lading point,gypsum loading point are there & after complition of gauge conversion & new line of RNY-RPAN-NLP-NTSK new possibilities will comeup.A new project of AZA-Meghalaya new line is to come up within few years than natural resorces of Maghalaya will come from that route & entire route is within RNY Division.But other than passenger earnings no known source of earning in case of APDJ Division.If that division is withdrwan bcoz of earnings than staff working there have to shift to different location as per order o Railway.From the socio-economic condition of RNY & sourroundings as per me RNY Division should move to GHY/MLG area.After complition of 5 years as Division you cant get a good social localities,good shop, daily bazzar,Good road etc.Staff who are working there maximum coming from GHY or NBQ/BNGN area for there duty.

Recently a tender amounting to Rs. 8 Crores was handed over to the Contractor illegally who happened to be 2nd lowest. The DFM was paid Rs. 5.50 lakhs for this as a bribe.The case has been put up to CBI.

How the DRM, FA&CAO is bearing all these is question to the staff ?
He should be removed immediately and the CBI should raid his house,his Bank Account in the Standard Chartered Bank.
