Citizens’ meet on problems of Orang National Park

UDALGURI, March 16 – The Orang National Park Development Committee, in association with Mazbat Regional Students’ Union (AASU unit), Orang Journalists’ Union, Orang regional committee of Manab Adhikar Sangram Samiti (MASS), Udalguri and Sonitpur committees of Aranya Surkhshya Samiti, is organising a citizens’ meet on the recent problems of rhino poaching, unabated encroachment by Bangladeshi nationals inside the National Park area. The citizens’ meet will be held at Orang HS School premises and would be attended by a good number of social workers, intellectual sand nature loving organisations of the state.
Adya shraddha: The Udalguri district committees of All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) and Bodo Sahitya Sabha is going to hold rajhuwa adhya shraddha of late Doleswar Boro, former president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha on March 22 next with a day-long agenda.
A strong Adhya Shraddha Udyapan Samiti was also formed recently with Rihan Daimari, PHE Minister of State, Udalguri district committees of ABSU and BSS as advisers and Mitharam Basumatary, EM of BTC and Mrinal Brahma as president and secretary respectively. The Samiti has invited all concerned to attend the adhya shraddha of the departed literary icon of Bodo literature.
Health camp: Astha, an Udalguri district-based NGO, is going to organise a day-long free health camp for women and children at Udalguri 30 bed PHC on March 15 next.
This was stated in a press released issued by Rajib Basumatary, secretary of the NGO. The press note requested the women and guardians of the children to avail the free treatment to be conducted by specialist doctors on children and gynaechology.
Computer centre: A computer education centre (Third Eye) was inaugurated at the heart of Udalguri town on March 10 last.
Inaugurating the centre, Rajiv Bharadwaj, franchisee manager of the institute said that the Third Eye Computer Education Centre is internationally recognised institute and the educated youths of Udalguri can avail quality computer education at affordable cost.
Speaking on the occasion as distinguished guest, RR Sapkota, local mediaperson, said that computer has become part and parcel of human life in globalised world.
The meeting to this effect was chaired by Gautam Jyoti Talukdar, president of Udalguri District Journalists’ Union and was addressed by Sujit Biswas, lecturer of Udalguri College and BC Bhuyan, officer in-charge of Udalguri PS, among others.
