Udalguri dist SC session ends amid chaos

KALAIGAON, March 25 – The first annual session of the Udalguri District Schedule Caste Development Council concluded amid chaos at Kalaigaon recently. People of SC community alleged that the session had been arranged by some youths who claimed to be the Congress members, at the Kalaigaon public playground. It is also alleged that the youths had collected a huge amount of money from people for the session, keeping party workers in the dark.
On March 2, some youths of the organising committee had gone to Dr CP Payeng, of Kalaigaon State Dispensary seeking donation for the session. The doctor at that time was busy attending serious patients.
The youths were reluctant to wait and misbehaved with the doctor and his family to the disappointment of people present.On the last day of the session, Bibekananda Doloi, parliamentary secretary, PWD, Assam; Hemprakash Narayan, former Minister of Assam and Madhab Rajbanshi, ex-MP arrived at the open session at 12 noon as guests of honour to find nobody to welcome them till 3 pm. The incident irritated other Congress workers, who changed some of the organisers and manhandled them at Kalaigaon IB in presence of all the guests. A police case had also been lodged at the Kalaigaon police station by one Parbati Das, against some youths of the organisation for misbehaving with her. The incident has created uproar inside the party workers.
