Car set on fire; BPPF calls another bandh today

KOKRAJHAR, May 7: A Maruti van (WB-74-F-3680) was set afire at Goshkata under Dotma PS at around 11.30 am during the 12-hour Kokrajhar bandh called by the BPPF, in protest against the killing of Basanta Kumar Basumatary, lecturer of Kokrajhar College and BPPF secretary. The Merchants’ Association, Kokrajhar, also called a 12-hour Kokrajhar town bandh in protest against the assault on Mula Gandra alias Birhary Mashahary by a PSO on May 5. Meanwhile, BPPF president Rabiram Narzary told The Sentinel today that the party has called another bandh tomorrow against the failure of the State Government in providing security to the lives of the people.
