NDFB cadre with 800 gms heroin nabbed

BARPETA, May 3 – Barpeta Road police in co-operation with the, Sarbhog based 3 Kumaon Regiment of the Army seized 800 gms of heroin worth Rs 16 lakh in the international market and arrested two persons in this connection at around 8 pm on Thursday evening.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint party of police and Army led by Purna Baruah, OC Barpeta road police station, Abdul Hamid, EI of Assam Police and Zakir Hussain DCD ..... JK Offset Press and PCO near the ASTC bus stand at Barpeta Road and managed to nab two persons, namely Dhaneswar Boro, the self-styled sergent major of NDFB and Nabajit Das along with a sealed packet with a label of Thailand manufactured heroine.
On interrogation, Dhaneswar Boro admitted that he had tourchased the pack of nareoties from two girls heiling from Arunachal sometime back with Rs 2 lakh only and resolved to transport it to its destination. However, he refrained from disclosing the destination. He also admitted that the seized packet was expected to fetch him Rs 16 lakh.
Police also seized the Maruti car bearing registration number NL-09-4447 in which the two drug peddlers were travelling.
