Bhairabkunda festival from Feb 7

UDALGURI, Feb 4 – The second Bhairabkunda festival is going to be held from February 7 to 9 next at Bhairabkunda.
The festival organised by Bhairabkunda Tourist Centre and sponsored by Tourism department of BTC will be inaugurated by Pramila Rani Brahma, State Agriculture Minister. She will also inaugurate the exhibition to be held on the occasion.
Earlier to this, Mitharam Basumatary, EM of BTC will flag off a bicycle race from KBR hall at Udalguri to Bhairabkunda while in the first evening of the cultural nite will be inaugurated by Maheswar Basumatary, EM of BTC.
On February 8, the second day of cultural carnival will begin with half marathan race from Kahibari chowk to Bhairabkunda which will be flagged off by Purna Kanta Daimari, deputy speaker of BTC assembly followed by All Assam marathon race from Bhairabkunda to Udalguri and vice versa which will be flagged off by Rihon Daimari, PHE Minister of the State and president of the festival committee.
The day will witness sports competition to be conducted by Udalguri District Sports Association to be followed by drawing competition among children.
Girish Chandra Choudhury, CHD, Department of Tourism, BTC will inaugurate the symposium on ‘Prospects of development of tourism in Udalguri district. The cultural exhibition of various ethnic groups including Bhutanese and Arunachalis will be held from 2 PM.
On February 9, being the last day of Bhairabkunda festival, the day will begin with presentation of Bodo traditional game ‘Gila’ followed by seminar to be inaugurated by Reo Rewa Narzari, speaker of BTC Assembly.
The open session will begin with release of souvenir Bhairabkunda by Kampha Borgoyari, deputy chief of BTC while Hagrama Mohiliary, chief of BTC will attend it as chief guest. Rockybul Hussain, Minister of Forest and Tourism and Chandan Brahma, transport and P and RD Minister will attend the open session as invited guest.
The cultural nite in the evening will begin with famous fire and cracker show from Barpeta.
The festival organised with a purpose to put Bhairabkunda with its natural beauty on the tourism map of country has already caught attention of people who long for holidaying at a spacious and hygienic atmosphere in the lap of nature.
It may be noted that the first Bhairabkunda festival was held in March, 2005 where thousands of people from various places took part.
