VDP day observed at Udalguri

UDALGURI, Feb 6 : The 69th Village Defence party (VDP) day was observed with a day-long programme at Kapurpura LP School premise here recently.
The session was inaugurated by Durga Prasad Sarmah with an appeal to the mass to develop fraternity and self-defence among the people. The open session was presided over by Md Saha Ali, the president of VDP, Udalguri police station. The introduction of guests were made by Purandar Basumatary.
Dr Saedique Ali Ahmed the SDPO of Udalguri has requested the VDP members to be more vigilant against the anti-social elements. He appraised the efforts of VDP in the region while Tarun Chandra Dey, the Circle Inspector of police, Udalguri urged the VDP members to be eager to learn more things to survive in this competitive world.
He requested them to be conversant with the law also Bodhen Chandra Bhuyan the officer-in-charge (OC) of Udalguri PS also addressed the meeting. His poem on that day was widely acclaimed by the people.
Ananta Chakravarti, a teacher of Daada Saharia Higher Secondary School, Benjamin Soren, the head master of Khowrang High School and Journalist Baidyanath Upadhyaya addressed the gathering.
Earlier, the flag was hoisted by Md Saha Ali followed by smriti tarpan by Atul Baglari, the former secretary of Kapurpora VDP.
