Curfew in Chirang hits academic atmosphere

KOKRAJHAR, March 20: The imposition of curfew in Chirang district especially in Bengtol, Tukrajhar and Punikhata after Bengtol firing where five innocent people were killed, which has hit the academic atmosphere as classes are not being held due to the ongoing curfew, sources added.
Speaking to the Sentinel, the Director of an English medium School of Bengtol said on condition of anonymity, the classes could not be held since the imposition of curfew in the area. The Government provincialized schools have remain closed since March 13 last.
He said adding that students are the worst sufferer. The prices of essential commodities has flared up due to short supply of daily commodities. He further said that economically backward people have been given extra burden to run the family.
Assistant teacher of an English medium school at Runikhata Ms M Basumatary said the imposition of curfew badly affected the educational atmosphere, sources added.
