Rabiram accuses BPPF(H) of failing to protect lives in the region

UDALGURI, Oct 30: The Bodoland People’s Progressive Front (Rabiram) (BPPF-R) has urged the people of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) region to work for strengthening the democratic base in the region. The party held a special convention at Rowta Chariali and formed its Udalguri district Youth and Women cell yesterday.Bani Hwshikhaw Baglari and Rashilal Narzary were elected as president and general secretary of the BPPF Youth cell while Ms Kalpana Das and Ms Shayashri Boro were selected as president and general secretary of the BPPF Women cell. A total of 13 members of the Congress formally joined the BPPF(R) and Kharga Bahadur Darji, general secretary of Khowrang Anchalik Damai Sangha (KADS) and Ms Dhanma Rabha, an active member of the BPPF(H) also joined the BPPF(R).

The convention began with the hoisting of the flag by district president Rabindra Basumatary, followed by a tribute to the martyrs by Gojen Hainary, central committee working member. The session which was attended by members of 55 primary committees and was inaugurated by Prodeep Kumar Daimary, BPPF(R) vice president and former deputy chief of Bodoland Autonomous Council (BAC). The open session was presided over by Rabindra Basumatary and conduct by Bani Prasad Boro, Udalguri district BPPF(R) secretary.

Speaking on the occasion, BPPF(R) chief Rabiram Narzary said that the BTC Government has failed to fulfil the promises made to the non-Bodo communities in the region. “No community in the region is satisfied with the BTC Govt. We have no MLA, ministers, EMs and other powerful dignitaries in our fold, although with the warm support of people of all sections and communities, our party stands as a prominent party in the BTC. It is now the people’s party, of all cast and communities”, Rabiram added.

Rabiram came down heavily on the Hagrama-led BPPF(H) and charged them of failing to ensure the safety and security of the people. The party has failed to enhance development of the downtrodden people of the region, he added.The meeting was also addressed by Urkhw Gwra Brahma, Rajya Sabha MP.
