Peace integral to people’s uplift: Hagrama

HOWRAGHAT, Feb 9 – The joint conferences of Bodo organisations- All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), Kachary Samaj (KS), Dularai Boro Harimu Afat (DBHA), All Bodo Women Welfare Federation (ABWWF), Dularail Boro Abadari Afat (DuBAA) and Ex-BLT Welfare Society, Karbi Anglong district unit held at Langhin Tiniali concluded here peacefully on Thursday.
Attending the open meeting as chief guest, BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary said round-the-clock development of every community and their particular places always depend upon the unity and peace.
Hence, every citizen of the country should attain the rights under the Constitution equally. Accordingly the Bodos living in the Karbi Anglong those who are demanding the Sixth Schedule status for ages should immediately be accorded so that they can also contribute to the district in round-the-clock development activities. Sans unity and peace no progress can ever be hoped.
Hence mutual cooperation between the two communities should be established and each other should play a proactive role in the greater interest of peace and development of the hills district, he added.
Stressing on the importance needed for mutual understanding and cooperation among different castes and communities for the successful accord of any issue, Mohilary said every community has a different problem of sub-national assertion. If these issues have properly negotiated by government then every community should cooperate and appreciate their demands with open heart.
Speaking on the ST Hills status demanded by the Bodo people living in Karbi Anglong, Mohilary asserted that KAAC should cooperate and look into the matter. There is nothing worry about for the Karbis if Bodos get Sixth Schedule status in Karbi Anglong.Rather it would be beneficial for Karbi Anglong.
Bodo people living in Karbi Anglong are demanding the ST Hills status only with an aim to bring advancement in the hills district socio-politically, socio-economically and socio-culturally. He reiterated that if any nation is not independent politically, economically and culturally no progress of the nation and the area can possible.
On the other hand, Mohilary firmly assured that the BTC will never hesitate to help in getting the Karbis living in plains as Sixth Scheduled.
Addressing the open meeting Biswajit Daimary, chairman, ARTFED, Assam highlighted the different provisional facilities available under ARTFED. He urged all the SHGs and unemployed youths to come forward and avail self-employment-generated schemes designed by the government.
During the meeting, Biswasar Basumatary, secretary, BSS central committee and Romela Islary, vice President, ABWWF also dwelt on the occasion. During meeting, all presidents and secretaries of the Bodo frontal organisations took part.
